High-tech products for the PVC industry

After a processing time of more than nine months, WALZEN IRLE has completed the next order on time for one of our long-standing customers from the film industry with six peripherally drilled calender rolls.

The rolls with a diameter of more than 950 mm and a working length of 5000 mm (approx. 8000 mm total length) weigh approx. 30 t per piece.

The calender rolls are made of special forged steel FS2-640 and hardened to over 80° Shore C. All rollers are peripherally drilled. In addition, some rolls are hot-ground at an operating temperature of more than 180°C and polished to a smooth surface roughness.

The roundness of the hot-ground calender rolls is less than 2 µm at operating temperature.

Our customer will use this 6-roll calender to produce products such as flex banners, ceiling films, sun protection films and tarpaulins.

The complete processing of these rolls, including induction hardening, was carried out at our WALZEN IRLE plant in Netphen, Germany.

We would like to thank our valued customer for this order and their trust in our products. Our employees have once again done a perfect job.
